BeWoman Asia 2025: Women Leaders of Central Asia Unite for the Future

The BeWoman Asia 2025 Forum has opened in Almaty — the largest platform bringing together women leaders, entrepreneurs, experts, as well as representatives of government bodies and public organizations from 20 countries.

Members of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan also took part in the forum.

The Supervisory Board of the forum was chaired by the Chairperson of the National Commission, Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balaeva. In her address, she emphasized that women are a driving force of the economy.

According to Aida Balaeva, today women head 48.2% of small and medium-sized enterprises in Kazakhstan, account for 53.4% of individual entrepreneurs, and make up 55.8% of the civil service. More than 30% of female students choose STEM fields, while 31% already work in IT and the digital economy.

Balaeva also noted that mothers carry a special mission — to raise generations that will respect the law, strive for progress, value labor, preserve culture and traditions, and promote the values of unity and tolerance.

The theme of the forum is “The Power of Generations”, dedicated to continuity and investment in education, technology, and human capital. A key event will be the signing of the Almaty Declaration 2025, which establishes the International Alliance of Women Leaders of Central Asia and advances the idea of an International Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.

At the plenary session “The Renaissance of Central Asia – The Power of Generations”, Zhuldyzai Iskakova, Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission, delivered a keynote speech.
“Kazakhstan and the Central Asian region have made significant progress in protecting women’s rights. Women’s literacy is close to 100 percent, and nearly half of those employed and business owners are women. Yet stereotypes about the role of women persist, and our task is to showcase successful examples of women’s achievements across various fields,” she stressed.

The forum gathered more than 95 experts, including Brian Tracy, Rita McGrath, Wendy Diamond, Ayumi Moore Aoki, Irina Khakamada, as well as leading Kazakhstani business figures.
