Members of the National Commission Congratulated the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University on its 80th Anniversary

An international forum titled "Educated Girls – Educated Nation" was held in Almaty, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University (QyzPU). The forum brought together representatives from the government sector, academic community, students, and alumni of the university.

The history of the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University dates back to 1944, when, during the height of World War II, the Council of People's Commissars of the Kazakh SSR adopted Resolution No. 457 to train highly qualified specialists among Kazakh women. This initiative was supported by prominent figures such as Kanysh Satpayev, Mukhtar Auezov, Saken Seifullin, and others. Initially, the institute consisted of three faculties: Physics and Mathematics, History, and Philology. Over its history, the university has trained more than 80,000 specialists, including renowned educators, scientists, and public and state figures. Today, QyzPU is a significant educational and scientific hub, actively advancing international collaboration and modern teaching methods.

The forum was attended by members of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including Chair of the Management Board and Rector of the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University, Gulmira Kanay, Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Karakat Abden, Rector of Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov, Laura Karabasova, and Advisor to the Chairperson of the Republican Public Association Senimen Bolashaq, Gulnar Umarova.

In her address, Rector Gulmira Kanay expressed her gratitude for the support of the university and presented the Medal for Contribution to the Development of the University to Omirkhan Oksikbayev, Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors. She emphasized that the anniversary was marked by several significant events, including the opening of new academic centers and laboratories, hosting conferences and lectures, and launching creative initiatives.

One of the key milestones of the celebration was the opening of a new academic building. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, Chairman of the Board of Directors Omirkhan Oksikbayev, and Honored Teacher of Kazakhstan, Orinsha Karabalina.

Additionally, the university inaugurated an interdisciplinary scientific laboratory equipped with cutting-edge technology for conducting fundamental and applied research in the fields of chemistry, biology, and physics. During the event, Chairman of the Board of Directors Omirkhan Oksikbayev highlighted the laboratory's significance for advancing science and education in Kazakhstan.

The celebration also featured the opening of the QyzPU Unispace coworking center, implemented in partnership with the publishing house Mazmundama. The center is designed to foster the creative and innovative ideas of students. The opening ceremony featured speeches from National Commission member Karakat Abden, prominent public figure and holder of the Parasat Order, Orazkul Asangazy, and renowned public figure, PhD in Philology, Professor, and holder of the Parasat II Degree and Dostyk Orders, Asyly Osman.

The anniversary provided an important platform for summarizing international collaborations. The university signed several strategic agreements, including partnerships with Michigan State University and Sussex University, as well as an agreement to establish the Teacher Professional Development Academy in collaboration with the Education University of Hong Kong and the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai.

The celebration concluded with a grand gala evening at the Baluan Sholak Palace of Culture and Sports, where the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, congratulated the university's staff and acknowledged their significant contributions to the development of science and education. Alumna Orinsha Karabalina symbolized the continuity of the university's traditions by presenting a student ID card to a first-year student.

The 80th anniversary of QyzPU underscored the university’s vital role as a leading educational and scientific institution shaping the future of Kazakhstan.
