With the support of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov hosted an informational discussion event, “OpenSoz Lectorium,” dedicated to youth. The purpose of the event was to promote gender equality and foster a culture of violence prevention among young people.
The event was attended by the Acting Head of UN Women in Kazakhstan, Dina Amrisheva; Head of the “Union of Fathers” in Aktobe Region, Ruslan Kazhibaev; 13-time world champion in kettlebell lifting, Evgeny Goncharov; and the founder of the educational project OpenSöz, Dinara Bisembina. The speakers engaged with the youth in an open discussion on topics such as preventing gender-based violence, fostering a culture of equality, and the role of men in building a just society.
University Rector and member of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Laura Karabasova, emphasized the importance of each citizen’s role in preventing violence, highlighting the need for every individual to contribute to addressing this pressing issue.
Dina Amrisheva, representing UN Women in Kazakhstan, expressed her satisfaction that the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign was launched with a youth event at Zhubanov University in Aktobe. She highlighted the crucial role of young people in building a just society.
Ruslan Kazhibaev, Head of the “Union of Fathers” in Aktobe Region, stressed that every man should view his partner as a reliable ally, noting the importance of financial independence and creating a future free of violence.
Evgeny Goncharov, world champion and father of two daughters, emphasized the importance of preventing violence against women and children, encouraging men to channel their energy into honest work and achieving goals.
The event provided youth with an opportunity to discuss important issues, share new ideas, and reinforce their sense of responsibility for the future of society.
