Family Day in Kazakhstan: The Warmth of Home That Unites Generations
Family is the place we return to after the most difficult days. It is where care, support, and warmth await us—things without which life is unimaginable. For Kazakh people, family has always been and remains a source of strength and inspiration.
Today, there are more than 5.5 million families living in Kazakhstan. Over the past ten years, more than 1.1 million young couples have tied their destinies together. In 2024 alone, almost 120,000 marriages were registered. The average age of first marriage is 27.9 years for men and 25.2 years for women.
Every family has its own story—from a small household of three to four people, to large families where several generations gather at the same table. On average, a Kazakhstani family consists of 3.4 people, while in rural areas the number is nearly four. One in every four families is single-parent.
In recent years, fathers have been taking a more active role in raising children, which strengthens the institution of the family and makes the home atmosphere warmer.
Despite challenges, the family remains the main foundation and true wealth. It is here that a child first learns kindness, care, and responsibility.
The National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan considers strengthening the family institution one of its highest priorities. Supporting parents, protecting the rights of women and children, and fostering a culture of respect and mutual understanding are the foundation of a sustainable society.
On this Family Day, the main wish is simple: may every home be filled with love, peace, and harmony. For it is within the family that the spirit is born which unites generations and makes our country stronger.
