HPV: Facts Over Fear

May 16 is dedicated to raising awareness about Human Papillomavirus (HPV) as part of the National Reproductive Health Week in Kazakhstan.

Cervical cancer remains one of the most common oncological diseases among women in the country. Yet it is also one of the few cancers that can be effectively prevented through timely vaccination and regular screening.

Starting from September 1, 2024, Kazakhstan launched a phased HPV vaccination program for 11-year-old girls. This decision is based on international medical practice and extensive clinical studies confirming the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

The goal of today’s campaign is to provide the public with accurate, science-based information about HPV, dispel myths, reduce fear, and support parents in making informed and responsible choices regarding prevention.

Across the country, healthcare providers are holding lectures, consultations, and media engagements. Videos and informational materials are being distributed widely, with particular focus on open dialogue with parents — through schools, medical institutions, media channels, and digital platforms.

Choosing vaccination is not just a medical decision —

it’s an investment in the health of future generations.
