The "Tomiris" Educational Program Empowers Women Leaders in Atyrau Region

The "Tomiris" Educational Program Empowers Women Leaders in Atyrau Region

For the third consecutive year, the Tomiris informational and educational program has been successfully implemented in the Atyrau Region. The initiative, launched by the National Commission on Women’s Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, aims to strengthen women’s leadership potential and expand their participation in the country’s political life.

On the fifth day of the program, a training session on “Developing the Leadership Potential of Women” was conducted by Lazzat Zhanulysskzy Suleimen, Vice Chair of the National Commission and prominent public figure. The speaker delivered a motivational workshop covering topics such as “When More Women Are in Politics, the World Wins”, “Your Story. Addressing Voters”, “Managing a Campaign”, and “Setting Goals and Achieving Them.”

As part of the training, meaningful dialogues were held with current deputies of the Atyrau regional and city maslikhats, public figures, and the heads of local electoral commissions. Guests shared first-hand experiences of working in local government and outlined the requirements and realities of running for public office. The participants had the opportunity to ask questions, hear real stories, and gain valuable insights about responsibility and civic engagement in public service. The face-to-face exchanges inspired many and helped them better understand their potential — a hallmark of the program’s practical, experience-based approach.

Previously reported, the Tomiris program took place from June 9 to 13, 2025, in the Atyrau Region.

The initiative is implemented in partnership with the NGO Shanyraq-2008 within the framework of the state social order from the Department of Internal Policy of Atyrau Region.

Out of 129 applicants who responded to an open call on social media, 50 active women were selected based on competitive criteria. The participants represent diverse sectors and are all aged 18 and above.
