The National Commission on Women and Family and Demographic Policy extends its congratulations to the people of Kazakhstan on Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 16 December is a historic date that marked the fulfillment of the centuries-old aspiration of our ancestors for freedom and opened the path toward the formation of Kazakhstan as a sovereign state. On this day in 1991, the state independence of our country was proclaimed, and the Constitutional Law “On the State Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” entered into force. Over the years of independence, Kazakhstan has preserved public harmony and stability while building a sustainable model of socio-economic development. Within this process, strengthening the institution of the family, expanding the rights and opportunities of women, and ensuring the protection of motherhood and childhood have been defined as key priorities of state policy. The National Commission wishes Kazakhstani families prosperity and well-being, and our country peace and stability.
