ISSUES RELATED TO THE PREPARATION OF THE NATIONAL REPORT “KAZAKHSTANI FAMILIES – 2026” WERE DISCUSSED WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF THE FAMILY OMBUDSPERSON
On 4 April, a working meeting was held to discuss the structure and substantive content of the National Report “Kazakhstani Families – 2026.” The meeting was attended by Zhuldyzai Iskakova, Deputy Chair of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chair of the Management Board of the Kazakhstan Institute for Public Development, as well as Snezhanna Imasheva, member of the National Commission and Family Ombudsperson under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the discussion, the parties agreed on the need to strengthen the practical focus of the document, including the development of specific recommendations for government agencies. Priority thematic blocks of the future report were also identified, including responsible parenthood, interaction between the family and the education system, as well as evaluation of the effectiveness of the state support measures being implemented.
Zhuldyzai Iskakova noted that the Center for Family and Gender Policy Studies, operating within the Institute, serves as a key platform providing comprehensive analytical support for decision-making. The Center’s work is focused on studying current social processes, preparing applied research, and developing practical recommendations.
Snezhanna Imasheva emphasized that the report should go beyond the scope of a traditional analytical review and become a decision-making tool aimed at improving the quality of life of Kazakhstani families. The discussion also paid special attention to the transformation of family and parental roles, increasing parental involvement in children’s upbringing and education, as well as strengthening partnership among the family, schools, and state institutions.
A separate focus of the meeting was the development of institutional cooperation. The parties identified mechanisms for coordination, data exchange, and joint analytical work. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish regular and substantive cooperation bringing together expert potential, analytical resources, and practical experience in order to develop effective solutions in the field of family and gender policy.
The National Report is prepared on a regular basis and submitted to the Head of State. The document serves as a key analytical tool for determining priorities in the field of family policy.
