Almaty Showcases the Work of Family Support Centers and Youth Health Centers
11 August 2025 — A delegation of the National Commission on Women’s Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan arrived in Almaty on a working visit. The delegation included Gulmira Kanai, Aiman Umarova, Marianna Gurina, and representatives of central government bodies.
The inspection is being carried out as part of the nationwide monitoring campaign (8 August – 8 September), which covers all regions of the country. Its goal is to assess the effectiveness of Family Support Centers and Youth Health Centers, identify best practices, and determine measures for further development of the network.
Almaty has one city-level Family Support Center and eight district centers under the Baqytty Otbasy (“Happy Family”) program. These centers provide free consultations with psychologists, lawyers, and social workers, assisting with parenting, employment, and the preservation of family relationships.
The city’s polyclinics host 14 Youth Health Centers, which focus on disease prevention, offer consultations on reproductive health, promote healthy lifestyles, and provide anonymous psychological assistance to adolescents and young people.
