Large-Scale Celebration of International Children’s Day Held in Aktobe

Aktobe, June 1, 2025

To mark International Children’s Day, the city of Aktobe hosted a large-scale celebration filled with joy, creativity, and inspiration. The central festivities took place near the "A Thousand Gratitudes to the Kazakh People" monument. From early morning, the area was filled with music, children’s laughter, and a truly festive spirit.

Akhmet Shakharov, Akim of Aktobe Region, addressed the gathered families:

“Today, on the first day of summer, we celebrate International Children’s Day. For every parent, there is no greater joy than seeing their child grow into an honest, hardworking, and dignified person. For the state, one of the most important duties is to nurture an educated, healthy, and patriotic generation. Today’s children are the future of our country. May each child grow up surrounded by care and love.”

Representing the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gaukhar Nurakhmetova, Secretary of the Commission, congratulated the children and their families on the holiday:

“Protecting the safety, health, and psychological well-being of children is one of the National Commission’s top priorities. We are implementing a number of socially significant projects in this field.”

She also underscored the importance of the upcoming “Children of Kazakhstan” national program, currently being developed by the government following the President’s instruction at the Third Meeting of the National Kurultai. This integrated initiative will respond to the most pressing challenges children face in Kazakhstan today and offer systemic solutions.

“According to a recent nationwide study conducted by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, involving 1,600 respondents across all regions, ‘family’ remains one of the most important values for Kazakhstanis. This is a positive signal, reflecting the central role of the family in our society and offering hope that related issues will be addressed in the right direction,” she noted.

She further emphasized that without reviving public consciousness, strengthening spiritual and moral values, and enhancing the authority of the family institution, it is impossible to preserve and build upon the spiritual wealth of the nation. The preservation of national child-rearing traditions and their integration into modern youth education remain a core focus of the Commission’s agenda.

The event featured a vibrant program, including:
Art exhibitions, theatrical performances, musical and dance showcases
● Interactive areas from technical creativity centers and colleges, presenting robotics, design, and modeling projects
● Outdoor creative zones where children freely painted and explored the arts

A special highlight was the concert “We Are the Sun Children” held at the regional Center for the Arts, featuring children with disabilities, local deputies, and young talents.

Nurakhmetova also highlighted that in Aktobe Region, numerous infrastructure and creative projects are being implemented in collaboration with parent associations to foster children’s interest in science, sports, and innovation — a model that can be replicated across other regions.

Thanks to the joint efforts of government agencies, families, and civil society, this year’s Children’s Day celebration became a powerful symbol of love, care, and collective responsibility for the younger generation.
