June 24 — International Day of Women in Diplomacy

The International Day of Women in Diplomacy was officially established in 2022 during the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
Kazakhstani women diplomats make a significant contribution to strengthening international relations and advancing Kazakhstan’s interests on the global stage. They also actively promote gender equality and sustainable development.
Today, Kazakhstan is seeing a positive trend in the increasing number of women holding high-ranking positions in the diplomatic service. Currently, 11 women are serving in senior diplomatic posts abroad.
Kazakh women in diplomacy are supported by noble national values such as modesty, seriousness, reserve, respect for elders, care for the younger generation, and hospitality.
Professionalism, patience, and the wisdom of Kazakh women in diplomacy help resolve complex issues — earning them well-deserved recognition and pride.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan stands out internationally: no other country has had as many women serve as ambassadors to the UN as Kazakhstan has.
One of the most iconic figures in Kazakh diplomacy is Akmaral Arystanbekova — a trailblazer who became the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kazakh SSR and the first Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations.
We are also proud of Byrganym Aitimova, who served as Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Israel, Italy, the UN, and Cuba (concurrently).
A major milestone was reached in June of last year when prominent Kazakhstani diplomat Madina Jarbussynova was elected to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) for the 2025–2028 term — a significant achievement for Kazakhstan and Central Asia as a whole.
Member of the Mazhilis (Parliament) and Chair of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Security Aigul Kuspan also dedicated many years to diplomatic service.
Generational continuity plays an important role in the successes of Kazakh diplomacy. We place great hopes on the younger generation who are choosing this honorable path.
On this special day, I wish all women working in the field of diplomacy good health, prosperity, peace, and kindness!
