North Kazakhstan: Focus on Women’s Initiatives and the Development of the Family Institution

In the North Kazakhstan Region, a meeting was held between Lyazzat Suleimen, Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Zhusup Zhumagulov, Deputy Akim of the region and Chairperson of the Regional Commission.

During the discussion, the parties addressed ways to strengthen the work of district-level commissions, including mechanisms to support women’s initiatives and reinforce family values. Special attention was given to the role of women in rural areas, recognized as key contributors to the region’s social and economic life.

It was noted that it is essential to create conditions in which every woman — especially in rural areas — feels supported by the state and empowered for self-realization. The development of women’s initiatives was discussed not only in the context of family wellbeing but also as a driver of economic growth, leadership, and civic engagement.

The meeting also covered interagency cooperation, programs promoting women’s entrepreneurship, and the implementation of national projects aimed at improving the quality of family life.

The dialogue was held in a constructive atmosphere and resulted in the identification of specific steps to enhance coordination between central and regional levels in the work of the commissions.

The National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a consultative and advisory body under the Head of State that coordinates national policy on gender equality, family support, and women’s rights protection. One of its key areas of focus is the development of regional and district commissions and the promotion of women’s initiatives across the country.
