National Commission Strengthens Teamwork and Sets Work Priorities
On August 23 in Astana, a strategic facilitation session was held for the members of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan
The session was attended by 22 members of the Commission. It was facilitated by Lesya Karataeva, an expert in strategic planning and gender policy, and Assel Kakenova, a specialist in facilitation and corporate training.
The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen teamwork and outline the Commission’s priorities until the end of the year. The members discussed the current situation, identified key tasks and risks, and developed a shared vision for further activities.
In the second part of the session, Aida Balayeva, Chair of the National Commission and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, joined the discussions. She thanked colleagues for their active participation and commitment, emphasized the importance of joint work, and outlined new tasks in the field of gender equality and family policy.
Kazakhstan is steadily advancing in the area of human rights and gender equality. In 2023, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed an Action Plan that included a dedicated block on equality between women and men. In 2024, new steps followed: measures against domestic violence, adoption of the Equal Opportunities Plan, and the start of work on legislation addressing harassment. Volunteers have also made their contribution.
These efforts are further continued in the work of the National Commission, which has become a platform uniting the state, experts, and civil society. Supporting the President’s agenda, the Commission strengthens the values of equality and places the family at the core of Kazakhstan’s future.
