APPEAL OF THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR WOMEN AFFAIRS, FAMILY AND DEMOGRAPHIC POLICY UNDER THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

Dear Citizens of Kazakhstan,

The National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan expresses its serious concern over the increasing number of cases involving child fatalities and injuries on the roads.

With the arrival of summer, children spend more time outdoors — on the streets, in courtyards, on sports grounds and in recreational areas.

For this reason, their safety during this period largely depends on the attentiveness and responsibility of adults.

In this regard, the National Commission calls on parents, drivers and all citizens of the country to demonstrate special responsibility for the lives and health of children during the upcoming summer holidays.

Dear Parents,

Talk to your children about safe behaviour on the road, in the yard, near bodies of water and in nature. Remind them of these rules regularly.

Explain that the road requires full attention. Children should cross only at designated pedestrian crossings after making sure it is safe to do so, and they should always dismount from bicycles or scooters before crossing.

Provide children with protective gear when riding bicycles, scooters and roller skates.

Pay special attention to safety at home. Do not leave windows open without safety devices, eliminate situations that may lead to falls, and ensure the secure storage of potentially dangerous objects and substances.

Do not leave children unattended and always be aware of their whereabouts. In the evening, children should not be outside without adult supervision.

These simple precautions help protect what is most valuable — a child's life and health.

Dear Drivers,

Most of you are parents yourselves, or older brothers and sisters. Remember this every time you get behind the wheel.

Be especially vigilant on the roads, particularly near residential areas, courtyards, parks and playgrounds.

Observe speed limits and reduce speed when approaching pedestrian crossings and driving through residential yards.

Do not use mobile devices while driving.

A child may fail to notice a vehicle. A driver must notice a child.

A child's life may depend on a single second of your attention.

Dear Citizens of Kazakhstan,

The life and health of children are a shared responsibility of families, society and the state.

No preventive measure can replace the attentiveness of adults, personal example and a caring attitude towards children.

Let us do everything possible together to ensure that our children's summer holidays are safe.
