Family Support Centers Remain a Focus Area for the National Commission

As part of a working visit to Aktobe, Gaukhar Nurakhmetova, Secretary of the National Commission for Women Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, visited the regional Family Support Center and reviewed the implementation of social initiatives in the area.

To date, there are 112 Family Support Centers operating across Kazakhstan, including 14 in Aktobe Region. These centers play a critical role in preventing social orphanhood, resolving family conflicts, and mitigating social vulnerability, offering comprehensive assistance to families and contributing to their long-term well-being.

During her visit, the Secretary of the National Commission was briefed in detail on the structure and operational priorities of the center, as well as on current programmes aimed at strengthening the family institution and enhancing psychosocial support systems. A meeting was held with center staff to discuss ongoing activities, achieved outcomes, and emerging areas of focus.

Spotlight on Inclusion: The “Derbes” Workshop

The visit also included a review of the “Derbes” Inclusive Workshop, launched in November 2024 on the premises of the Family Support Center. The project was initiated and personally funded by civic activist Ruslan Kazybayev and his family.

The workshop focuses on:
Developing work skills
Socialization
Vocational adaptation for adolescents with autism and developmental differences

Participants engage in the production of natural spa products, gaining hands-on experience and valuable life skills.

Nurakhmetova commended the social value and innovation of the project, emphasizing the role of inclusive initiatives in fostering a culture of mutual understanding and support. She also highlighted the importance of analyzing the Derbes model in depth and scaling it to other regions across the country.
